Christopher L. Avery
- An international lawyer, formerly Legal Adviser and Deputy Head of the Research Department, Amnesty International, International Secretariat, London (1983-93).
- Undertook a series of missions and trial observations for Amnesty International and drafted reports related to those missions: Egypt, Hong Kong, Gaza (1993-95).
- Conducted independent field research on the extent to which companies were contributing to development and human rights projects in South Africa, India, Thailand and the Philippines (1996-97).
- Discussed international human rights issues with multinational companies preparing to adopt human rights policies (1998-99).
- Advisory Group member for the business & human rights project, International Council on Human Rights Policy, Geneva (2000-2001).
- Developing an independent resource website (2000-2001), and preparing proposal for an information network on business/human rights issues (2001).
